Original photocopies of NSC-68

This once classified document was secretly drawn up by the United States' National Security Council, shortly after WWII, to establish what the Cold War was going to be, what the American people were to believe it was (not at all the same thing), and how the US was going to secure it's place as the one and only global and economic power, during the 2nd half of the 20th century and beyond.

This document shaped, to a large degree, the world we live in today.

What you see in this document will largely be determined by your point of view. If you believe in the righteousness of the U.S.' foreign policies, then you will likely see a document that supports your beliefs. If you believe that the cold war was a fight over energy resources (oil) that was dressed up to look like something it wasn't, you'll find support for that in this document too.

I'm not going to tell you which is right because, while I have my own opinions, I don't honestly know what was in the minds of the men who wrote this document and because I don't feel qualified to tell you what to think.

Why did I post this?

Because at the core, my work as a songwriter is about truth. Finding it, understanding it and then telling it. Because I was taught in school that Truth, Justice, Freedom and Equality were what the American way was all about. This document was classified for a reason. Many reasons probably. There are many books by many people who can help you make up your mind about what NSC-68 means, but I when I looked for the original docuement, I was was only able to find the copy that I present to you here.

I have not modified this document at all, it's just as I found it. That does not mean it's 100% accurate. I haven't changed it, but that doesn't mean the copy I found was accurate. I'm not guaranteeing it's authenticity and I suggest you look for other copies and compare them if you have doubts.
